Riftbound Set 7: The Reckoning – Alle Infos zum neuen Riftbound Set

Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game is getting its seventh major expansion in spring 2027. Riftbound Set 7: The Reckoning will be released on April 30, 2027 and bears the motto Awaken the Ancients.

The set revolves around awakening giants and some of the largest champions from League of Legends. With Aurelion Sol, Cho’Gath, and Shyvana, several characters that fit this theme perfectly have already been confirmed. Vayne and Zilean also show that The Reckoning will not consist solely of giant creatures.

Many details about the mechanics and cards have not yet been released. This article therefore provides a concise overview of all information officially confirmed so far: Release, card count, new Legends, announced products, and the first clues about the set’s theme.

What is Riftbound Set 7: The Reckoning?

Riftbound: The Reckoning is the seventh main set of the League of Legends Trading Card Game. Riot describes the expansion with the question of what happens when long-dormant, colossal beings awaken.

The motto Awaken the Ancients points to ancient powers, giant champions, and a threat that could fundamentally change Runeterra. More detailed information about the story or the new mechanics has not yet been presented.

However, the first confirmed champions already give the set a clear identity. Aurelion Sol and Cho’Gath in particular are among the largest and most powerful beings in the League of Legends universe.

Riftbound The Reckoning Release and Pre-Rift

The official Release of Riftbound Set 7: The Reckoning is April 30, 2027. The Pre-Rift events will take place from April 23 to 29, 2027.

  • Pre-Rift: April 23 to 29, 2027
  • Release: April 30, 2027
  • Set code: REC
  • Card count: 264 cards
  • Showcase cards: 67

The Reckoning is therefore smaller than the previous set, Legacy, which comprises 346 cards. With 264 cards and 67 Showcase versions, the expansion is nevertheless extensive and also offers numerous special variants for Collectors.

These champions have been confirmed for The Reckoning

Five new Legends have so far been officially announced for Riftbound Set 7:

  • Aurelion Sol
  • Cho’Gath
  • Shyvana
  • Vayne
  • Zilean

Four more new Legends are set to be added, but have not yet been revealed.

Aurelion Sol, Cho’Gath, and Shyvana fit the theme of awakening giants perfectly. Aurelion Sol is a cosmic dragon, Cho’Gath a growing creature from the Void, and Shyvana a half-dragon with a powerful dragon form.

Vayne and Zilean bring different perspectives to the set. Vayne is a monster hunter, while Zilean is a chronomancer connected to time and possible futures. Their roles in the story and mechanics of The Reckoning are not yet known.

What mechanics will Riftbound The Reckoning introduce?

New mechanics for The Reckoning have not yet been officially explained. Riot has announced that it will release more information at a later date.

Possible focal points can be inferred from the theme, but they have not yet been confirmed. Large units, growth, transformations, or powerful effects would fit Champions such as Cho’Gath, Aurelion Sol, and Shyvana. Until official card texts are shown, however, such ideas remain speculation.

The only certainty is that The Reckoning is intended to bring some of the biggest Champions from League of Legends to the Riftbound TCG.

Which products will be released for Riftbound The Reckoning?

The following products have been announced so far for the seventh Riftbound set:

  • Booster packs and Booster displays
  • Riftbound The Reckoning Champion Deck Shyvana
  • Riftbound The Reckoning Champion Deck Vayne
  • Riftbound The Reckoning Vault Bundle
  • Riftbound The Reckoning Pre-Rift Kits

The two Champion Decks featuring Shyvana and Vayne are the most concrete product announcements so far. They are intended to provide a direct entry point with a preconstructed Deck.

Booster packs and Displays are aimed at Collectors, Deck builders, and Limited Players. The Vault Bundle is once again likely to combine Boosters with additional collector content. However, the exact contents, Booster configurations, and possible promo cards have not yet been revealed.

What does the new Booster structure mean for Set 7?

According to Riot, the Booster change introduced with Legacy will also apply to later sets. The Reckoning will therefore likely also contain a dedicated slot in which a Legend appears roughly half the time and a Battlefield the other half.

As a result, Boosters from Set 6 onward contain six instead of seven Common cards. Showcase versions of Legends and Battlefields will continue to be reserved for the designated overnumbered slots.

This change is intended to keep Legends available to Players without regular copies occupying one of the more exciting rarity slots in a Booster.

Why Aurelion Sol and Cho’Gath are particularly exciting

Aurelion Sol is one of the most striking Champions announced for Riftbound so far. As a cosmic dragon, he offers plenty of potential for impressive artwork, special card variants, and a playstyle that reflects his immense power.

Cho’Gath is known for his growth and his connection to the Void. This also suggests a game concept in which a unit becomes larger or more dangerous over the course of a game. Whether Riot will transfer these familiar characteristics directly into Riftbound has not yet been confirmed.

Together with Shyvana, both Champions already give The Reckoning a strong dragon, monster, and giant focus. For Collectors, their Showcase cards could become some of the set’s most important motifs.

Who is Riftbound The Reckoning interesting for?

For League-of-Legends fans, the set is especially exciting if Aurelion Sol, Cho’Gath, Shyvana, Vayne, or Zilean are among their favorite Champions.

For Riftbound players, the new Legends and Champion decks could open up additional deck types and strategies. However, a precise assessment will only be possible once the first card texts and mechanics are known.

For Collectors, the set offers 67 Showcase cards. The large-format artwork featuring Aurelion Sol, Cho’Gath, and Shyvana in particular is likely to attract a great deal of attention.

For Beginners, two Champion decks featuring Shyvana and Vayne are available. This should allow The Reckoning to be played directly even without prior Deck building.
