Are there differences in availability or print runs between German and English sets - and what does that mean for the Price?

Yes, there are differences. English Pokémon sets are produced in significantly larger quantities and distributed worldwide. As a result, they are usually available for longer and are somewhat cheaper in Price.
German sets, on the other hand, are released in smaller quantities and are generally only available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This lower print run often means that popular products - such as Displays or Elite Trainer boxes - sell out faster and may become more expensive on the secondary market.

Can I use German or English cards in tournaments in Germany - are there any restrictions depending on the language or edition?

Yes, you can use both German and English Pokémon cards at official tournaments in Germany. Both language versions are legal for play in Europe, as long as they come from an officially released set by The Pokémon Company International.
Japanese cards are generally not permitted in international tournaments unless you use them together with an official translation. However, you can use all language versions without any problems for casual play, collecting, or trading.

Are there quality differences between German and English Pokémon cards?

Yes, minor differences are possible. English cards are produced by several printers worldwide (e.g., in the USA or Belgium), while German cards are usually printed only in Europe. This can result in slight variations in gloss, card thickness, or cutting. These differences are purely visual and affect neither playability nor value. All cards come from the official Pokémon Company International and are authentic.

How can I tell which set or edition my Pokémon cards are from?

Each card has a set symbol and a collector number (e.g., “045/196”) in the bottom left. The symbol identifies the respective set, while the number indicates its position within the edition. You can also find the language version on the back (e.g., “© Pokémon / Nintendo / Creatures / GAME FREAK” in English or German). If you’re unsure, you can find the associated set and all relevant details for every product on cardcosmos.de.

Are your Pokémon products genuine and sourced directly from the manufacturer?

Yes. All Pokémon products at cardcosmos come exclusively from official distributors (The Pokémon Company International). You always receive factory-sealed, unopened products - no resealed or second-hand products.

When will my order be shipped?

All in-stock items are generally shipped on the same or next business day. Pre-order products are shipped on time for the official Release date.
