With Riftbound: Unleashed, the third set of the League of Legends Trading Card Games is about to launch. For players and Collectors, Set 3 brings not only new cards but also fresh mechanics, exciting Champions, and for the first time a new rarity level. If you want to know what to expect, when the Release is, and which products are worth it, you get the complete overview here.
What is Riftbound: Unleashed?
Riftbound Unleashed is the third major set in the Riftbound TCG and builds on the previous expansions. The content revolves around hidden strength, tactical timing, and control over the playing field. The motto "Power strikes from the shadows" fits perfectly.
The focus is on dynamic plays where you cleverly build your resources and strike at the right moment. Especially if you enjoy strategic play or complex board states, you will likely appreciate this set.
With over 220 cards and more than 30 alternative artworks, Unleashed offers plenty of new material for both Deck builders and Collectors. At the same time, the set noticeably expands the gameplay experience with new tokens and mechanics.
Release date of Riftbound Unleashed
The Release of Riftbound Unleashed is already officially confirmed and takes place in several phases:

- Pre-Rift Events (English): May 1 to 7, 2026

For you as a player in Germany, May 8th is especially important. From this date, the products are officially available. If you want to get started right away, it's worth checking out the Pre-Rift Events. There you can test the set before the Release.
New mechanics in Unleashed
A central highlight of Riftbound Set 3 is the new gameplay mechanics. They noticeably change the game and add more depth to every match.
XP – the new resource
XP is the most important innovation in the set. You can build up this resource during the game and use it for powerful effects. At the same time, XP influences the level of many cards.
This ensures that your decisions carry more weight in the long run. You have to weigh whether to use XP immediately or save it for later power plays.
Hunt – control brings progress
With Hunt, you generate XP by taking or holding a battlefield. This rewards active play and map control.
Especially aggressive or tempo-oriented decks benefit from this. Those who dominate the battlefield are also rewarded with additional resources.
Ambush – surprise attacks
Ambush brings a new form of reaction into the game. You can play certain units directly as a response on a battlefield where you are already present.
This opens up completely new possibilities for counterplays and ensures unexpected twists. Especially in close matches, Ambush can make the difference.
These champions are in focus
Even with the champions, Riftbound Unleashed delivers plenty of fan service. Several well-known League of Legends characters are the focus of the set. Among them are:
- Diana
- Vi
- Pyke
- Kha’Zix
- Lillia
- Ivern
Especially exciting is Kha’Zix, who is closely linked to the XP mechanic. Here it shows how strongly gameplay and champion design are intertwined.
Visually, the set also sets clear accents. The artwork highlights, among others, Vi, Rengar, Master Yi, and LeBlanc. This gives Unleashed a strong Jungle and Assassin vibe that perfectly fits the gameplay mechanics.
New tokens and game elements
Unleashed not only expands the card base but also the entire gameplay experience through new tokens and markers, such as Bird Tokens, XP trackers, Reflections, Brush Tokens, or the Baron Pit.
These elements bring additional interactions to the board and make matches even more lively. The Baron Pit Token is particularly interesting as it comes directly into play with Baron Nashor.
For you, this means more overview but also more strategic possibilities. Especially in longer matches, the board becomes significantly more complex.
Which products are released with Unleashed?
As with every major set, Riftbound Unleashed products also address different target groups. Whether you collect or want to play right away, here you will find the right format.
Booster Display and Booster packs
The centerpiece remains the classic Booster Box. Perfect for:
- Collectors looking for rare cards
- Opening Fans
- Deckbuilder
Here you have the best chance for alternative artworks and rare cards.
Champion decks: Vi and Vex
With Unleashed, two new Champion decks are released:
- Vi Deck
- Vex Deck
Both decks each contain:
- 56 ready-to-play cards
- 1 Booster from Unleashed
Ideal for Beginners or if you want to start playing right away without building decks for a long time.
The Vault – the new hybrid product
An exciting new format is The Vault. This product combines collecting and playing:
- 6 Unleashed Booster packs
- 36 Basic Runes
- 3 double-sided full-art tokens
- 2 Divider
- Reusable Storage Box
If you are just starting out in Riftbound or want to organize your collection, The Vault is a very practical option.
Of course, you can also find such products in the cardcosmos range, where you can conveniently get everything related to Riftbound and other TCGs.
Why Baron Nashor is important for collectors
The biggest highlight for collectors is probably the introduction of the Ultimate Rarity. This rarity level makes its debut with Unleashed.
The first card in this category is Baron Nashor. This is an Overnumbered card that appears in less than one percent of Booster packs.
For you, this means:
- extremely low pull rate
- high collector value
- strong long-term potential
Especially if you focus on rare cards or investments, you should keep this topic in mind. Ultimate Rares could play a similar long-term role as Chase Cards in other TCGs.
Who is Riftbound Unleashed worth it for?
Riftbound Unleashed Germany clearly targets several groups:
For players
- New mechanics bring a fresh playstyle
- More strategic depth through XP and Ambush
- Stronger interaction on the board
For collectors
